Budget and Finance Committee:

As determined by the Constitution, the Budget and Finance Committee is headed by the Budget and Finance Chair, whose purpose shall be to receive all requests from the;

- SGA Student Development Fund
- SGA Campus Wide Special Events
- SGA Student Fund Balance Student Development
- SGA Student Fund Balance Campus Wide Special Events
- SPSU Homecoming Committee Fund

It is the job of the Budget and Finance Committee to review all budget requests,
recommend all, part or none of the request to be voted on at the next SGA general body meeting.

Elections:

Requirements for SGA Office:

  • Executive Board Candidates (President, Vice President, and Secretary/Treasurer) as well as the Chief Judge must have a 3.0 Cumulative GPA.

  • Council Candidates must have a 2.5 Cumulative GPA.

  • All Candidates must be able to fulfill a 1 year term. If you are graduating in Summer or Fall Semester 2007, you are NOT eligible for office.

  • All Candidates must also be in good standing with the university (i.e. no unpaid parking/library fines, etc).

Internal Affairs

The Internal Affairs Committee conducts bi-annual reviews of all officially recognized organizations, the SGA, the SGA Constitution, and shall perform other tasks as directed by the Student Council. The Internal Affairs shall submit to the SGA Cabinet the student organization report. Based on this report the cabinet shall propose:

  • Inactiveness: If a Student Organization has not had any meeting or activity in a period of six months.
  • Freeze Funds: If the said organization is believed to be misappropriating the Student Activities Fund. IF Freeze Funds is recommended the student organization shall have one month from time of notice to defend it expenditures. If found guilty the remaining funds are reallocated back into the SGA Student Development Account.
  • Probation: If a Student Organization is believed to violate any student life handbook rules. The organization will come before the SGA Judiciary. If found guilty, said organization shall lose it SGA recognition and funds.

The Internal Affairs Committee has recently implemented a Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) manual. All student organizations are responsible for knowing the contents of the SOP, and are required to abide by it. The SOP outlines procedures for the following:

  • Requirements for becoming an officially recognized organization on campus

  • Requirements to be eligible to receive funds from the SGA

  • Requirements to be eligible to receive an office in the Student Center

  • Organization Status and Updates

  • Room Audits and Inspections

  • Electronic Records

Public Relations

The Public Relations Committee is responsible for handling any publicity of SGA meetings or SGA sponsored events that the SGA Council deems necessary.

Judiciary

The Judiciary Cabinet is responsible for enforcing

  • SPSU Rules and Regulation

  • Traffic Appeals

  • SOP Appeals

  • Constitutional Concerns

The SGA Judiciary Cabinet consists of the Chief Judge and six Associate Judges, representing a cross-section of the student body.
